Thirty-five years of protective coatings

Cordell opened in 1991 doing tank work for Oklahoma refiners and water districts. The founding idea was unglamorous and has held up: sell surface preparation, not paint. A premium coating over a poor profile fails on the same schedule as a cheap one.

That is why our quality system is built around measurement. An AMPP-certified inspector documents surface profile, chloride levels, ambient conditions, and dry film thickness, and we hand the owner that record at closeout. It has settled more warranty conversations than any argument ever has.

We run 95 certified applicators out of two Tulsa facilities: the Apache Street shop for structural blasting and priming, and the 49th West Avenue plant for larger fabricated assemblies. In the field we work under full containment, which keeps abrasive and old coating out of the surrounding unit.

Our customers are refineries, products terminals, municipal water utilities, chemical plants, and steel fabricators, mostly within a day of Tulsa. Turnaround work is a large part of what we do, so we are used to compressed windows and to being the trade that cannot start until somebody else finishes.
